Thank You for Your Presence and see you
The ‘Marie Curie Actions’ have long been one of the most popular and appreciated features of the Community Framework Programmes for Research and Technological Development. They have developed significantly in orientation over time, from a pure mobility fellowships programme to a programme dedicated to stimulating researchers’ career development. The ‘Marie Curie Actions’ have been particularly successful in responding to the needs of Europe’s scientific community in terms of training, mobility and career development. This has been demonstrated by a demand in terms of highly ranked applications that in most actions extensively surpassed the available financial support.

The ‘People’ Specific Programme acknowledges that one of the main competitive edges in science and technology is the quantity and quality of its human resources. To support the further development and consolidation of the European Research Area, this Specific Programme’s overall strategic objective is to make Europe more attractive for the best researchers.

The Summer School will be a forum for all those involved in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology with particular emphasis on biocompatibility of nanoparticles. Since the year 2000, there has been an approximate doubling each year of articles related to nanoparticles for use in biomedical and technical applications. In biological systems, they have been used as drug delivery vehicles, targeted cancer therapies, tissue scaffolds, biosensor, diagnostics, gene therapy and regenerative medicine. Opinions on biocompatibility of nanomaterials and their behavior in living system are still ambiguous. Scientists explain that behavior of nanoparticles may be attributed to various factors, for instance, concentration, reactivity, type of functionalization, duration of exposure, methods of exposure, catalysts impurity and agglomeration.
During the two-day event the participants will listen to the invited authorities in the field of nanoparticles-based Science, recent advances, health risk, today and future potential. Moreover, participants will have an opportunity to present their own results in the form of short presentations or during poster sessions, and to exchange opinions on the research frontiers of the nanomaterials in biological, medical, chemical and physical sciences.
